This Day in Romans: 13 July 2016

Romans 13:13-14

“Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. / But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.”

These two verses make me think of the 5Ws for our walk with Christ through this journey called life: the who, what, when, where, and why.  Who are we allowing to lead us, God or man?  What purpose are we trying to fulfill?  When do we praise God; before, during, or after the blessings?  Where is God’s will on our list of priorities?  Why are we able to love in the first place?

Questions such as these keep me grounded, exposing what I’m focusing on and whether or not my actions are in agreement with what God has planned for me.  Sometimes it is difficult, especially when evaluating things after I’ve gotten comfortable, but it is a necessity.

When evaluating our lives we should always do our best to put off those negative things that can so easily consume us if we are not careful.  Instead of that we should continue to renew our minds in God’s word, understanding that we are not perfect but continual obedience and a willing heart go a long way.

As we begin another day, continue to keep God’s commandment of love on your heart.  Know that He loves you beyond what you can see or fathom.  Continually seek His wisdom, His guidance, and His peace.  May He bless you on this day.
