As of now the 2015 NFL Draft is nearing the 6th of 7 rounds. The Jaguars have made picks (primarily Dante Fowler, Jr.) that have been consistent with the team’s need to continue adding onto the foundation that has already been built.
The Jaguars have a 2nd year quarterback in Blake Bortles, who looks to make a monumental step forward in 2015. Along with Bortles, the team boasts many young up-and-coming players who look to help the team improve from its 3-13 record a year ago.
The opening round picks for the Jaguars are as follows:
– Dante Fowler, Jr. (DE, Florida) – 1st Round, Pick 3
– T.J. Yeldon (RB, Alabama) – 2nd Round, Pick 36
– A.J. Cann (OG, South Carolina) 3rd Round, Pick 67
So what is the deal with these draft picks? The Jaguars want a prolific pass rush, a more complete system of running backs and better pass protection. They filled needs early in the draft while at the same time receiving good value for their picks (unless you speak to some expert analysts known as us fans).
Stay tuned for more information and a more in-depth look into where the team is heading as the 2015 NFL Draft concludes.
